Urinalysis,  Complete:  A health screening profile consisting of 10 or more component tests that is routinely ordered as part of an annual physical exam. This test can be used to screen for and monitor diseases and conditions, such as kidney stones, diabetes, urinary tract infections, and liver disease. This is not a drug test.  Please refer to the Additional Details tab for more information about each component of this test.

Preparation: You will be asked to provide a urine specimen at the Patient Service Center. At the Patient Service Center, a technician will provide you with a container and a private lavoratory for the collection.

Estimated time to receive results is 1-2 business days.

Service Fee:  At check-out we add a Service Fee of $ 28.75 to every order, no matter how many tests are on your order. For instance, if there is one test on your order, the Service Fee is $ 28.75. If there is more than one test on your order, the Service Fee is still $ 28.75. There is no limit to the number of tests you can place on your order, but all tests must be run together at the lab at one time, for one person. 

Your Bottom Line Price:   The amount you pay at check-out (lab test(s) cost + one Service Fee) will be the complete price. There are no other charges from us or the lab to complete lab testing service.

Order Eligibility:  You must be 18 years of age, and not a resident of NY, NJ, or RI, where state laws prohibit self-order lab testing.  Only one person can be on each lab order. If ordering for two persons, for instance, you would need to make two orders.

Shelf-life of Lab Orders:  Your lab order will be valid for 6 months. 

Refunds:  Refunds are available for 6 months.  The refund amount will be the price you paid for your unused lab form, less the Service Fee.

Time to Process your Order:  During normal East Coast business hours, expect your lab form from us within 2 hours. During evenings, holidays and weekends, expect your lab form within 12 hours. Your lab form is what you will print to take with you to the lab.

Urinalysis component tests include these tests (some may be reflex):

  • Color: reddish brown urine may be caused by certain medications, diet, or blood.
  • Clarity (turbidity): clear is normal; bacteria, blood, mucus, crystals can produce cloudy urine.
  • Odor: E. coli can cause foul odor, diabetes can cause sweet, fruity odor.
  • Specific Gravity: indicates how well the kidneys are able to adjust the level of water in urine.
  • pH: urine pH may be adjust by certain types of treatment, e.g. in prevention of kidney stones.
  • Protein: none is normal, protein can be caused by exercise, fever, pregnancy or kidney disease.
  • Glucose: none or little is normal, higher levels can be due to diabetes or kidney problems.
  • Nitrites: presence may indicate urinary track infection (UTI)
  • Leukocyte esterase: detect WBC & may indicate UTI
  • Ketones: large amounts could indicate diabetic ketoacidosis; also low carb diet can cause this.
  • Red or White Blood Cells: normally not in urine, requires follow-up to determine cause.
  • Casts: presence may indicate kidney disease
  • Crystals: large amounts may indicate kidney stones, metabolism problem.
  • Bacteria: normally none, presence may indicate infection.
